As soon as I get on the field I can tell that Ryan and Tyler have something that they want to get off their chests.

“Where is Ryan?” Tyler asks me while looking around for her.

“She will be in, in a minute she wanted to wake up fully first.”

“Good. That means we can do this now.” Ryan Larkin growls at me.

“Settle down Rye I told you I already took care of it.”

“Obviously not good enough if this little piss-ant is back here expecting us to help him out after the way he has been treating our daughter.” I don’t think he meant to say our daughter and I look over at Tyler to see what his reaction to the statement is, but all he is doing is rolling his eyes. “Look boy Alice finally clued me in to the way you have been treating my little girl and I want you to know that, that shit stops right now. I will destroy your baseball career before it even has a chance to get out of the little leagues if you don’t start treating Miss Ryan with some God DAMN RESPECT.”

“Rye why don’t you take Brad to the locker room where you two can finish having this conversation in private. Brad go on with Ryan I promise he will play nice.” With that resounding assurance I find myself being ushered toward the Critters locker room to get my ass chewed out by one anger “dad.” Jesus how many dads does this girl have and when will I finally be accepted by them all.

“Look man I was an asshole. I know I was an asshole and I am trying my hardest to make it up to her. I wish that I can go back and change the way I treated Ryan, but I can’t. If you guys don’t want to help me this weekend I am cool with that. To be honest I came just so I could spend time with my girl. I really don’t care if we do anything baseball related.”

“Your girl?”

“Yeah, well not yet but I am working on it.”

“You have been a dick to Ryan for weeks and all of the sudden she is connected to baseball in ways you can only dream of and now you want her to be your girl. Sure, kid good luck with that shit. I’ll tell you what why don’t you get back in your car and go home to Temple? We will make sure Ryan gets home safe.”

“Seriously I don’t care what you think. I only care what Ryan thinks, but since she loves you and I want to make her happy I’ll lay it out for you. That girl I was a complete douche to her for weeks and do you know what she did? She asked you guys to help me out, so I wouldn’t lose my future, and you know what she asked for in return? For me to ignore her and to protect her friends. She didn’t ask
